St Agustinus Church, Manokwari.

This church was the cathedral ("bishop's church") of the Diocese until in 1975 the bishop moved from Manokwari to the faster-growing city Sorong, 300 kilometres to the east (and 4,000 kilometres from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia). The area is now called the Diocese of Manokwari-Sorong. The church was built and named during the time that the first bishop of the area was Most Rev Peter van Diepen O.S.A., who retired in 1988 and died in April 2005.

Gereja ini adalah katedral ('gereja Uskup') pertama di keuskupan Manokwari-Sorong, sejak Keuskupan didirikan sampai tahun 1975,. di mana pusat Keuskupan dipindahkan dari Manokwari ke Sorong. Kota Sorong berkembang lebih pesat, walau 4000 km jauh dari ibukota Jakarta.
