Parish House, Ayawasi.

Ayawasi was only discovered by the outside world in 1948. It has now had the continuous presence of members of the Order of Saint Augustine for almost fifty years. It is located is the exact centre of the "bird's head" of Papua, and is surrounded in all directions by 200 kilometres of tropical jungle. The Parish of Ayawasi is unique in having six grass airstrips. The first road reached Ayawasi only in 2003. There are still villages that can be reach only by jungle tracks or by aircraft.

Sejak 50 tahun lamanya Ordo Santu Augustinus bekarya di Ayawasi. Ayawasi terletak di pusat Kepala Burung, dan dikelilingi hutan tropis. Paroki Ayawasi memiliki enam lapangan terbang (landasan rumput). Hanya pada tahun 2003 dikerjakan jalan (tipe ALS: 'asal lewat saja') dari Sorong ke Ayawasi.
