The HIV / AIDS Program at BabaDogo: What needs to be done now?
The HIV / AIDS programme at the BabaDogo parish serves an estimated population of 358,000 or more adults and a correspondingly higher number of children. It is open five days a week.
The Voluntary Counselling and Testing Services are in great demand and the numbers of people who come seeking for these services cannot be served by the current one counselling room; there is need to have more counselling rooms because of the sensitive character of the counselling relationship.
There is need for a waiting area for VCT clients. There is also need for a dental care room and most especially a separate room for the many TB patients attending the centre.
lf the current facilities at the centre in BabaDogo could be enlarged, far more use could be made of the building.
Consequently the following are needed as an urgent priority:
a) Counselling Rooms: A minimum of 2 rooms
b) Treatment Rooms: a minimum of 2 rooms
c) Drug store: 1 room
d) Examination room: 1 room
e) Room for nurses: 1 room
