History summary - 09

A list of General Chapters and of Priors General from the Little Union of 1244.

Note that the Order of Hermits of Saint Augustine began in 1256. Priors General listed before then were the major superior of the Tuscan hermits of the Little Union only.

All Chapters were held in Italy, unless otherwise indicated.

Until the year 1281, a General Chapter was held every year, although often with the same Prior General remaining in office.

When a Prior General died or retired before the end of his term of office, the Vicar General (VG) who replaced him is named (if known).
