16th Century: Introduction

The sixteenth century was a time of great activity in the Western world, the Christian Church and the Order of Saint Augustine.

Among the major causes of this was the Reformation that was ignited by Martin Luther, who was a member of the Order of Saint Augustine.

Another impact on the Church and the Order of Saint Augustine came from the penetration of the military and commercial agents of Spain and Portugal in the Middle East, in Asia, on the American continent.
